Forage is a self-hosted personal intelligence engine built on open protocols. You choose your sources — RSS, Atom, podcasts, Reddit, Mastodon, Substack, news sites, company blogs, forums, anything with a public URL and text content. An AI reads everything that comes in, scores it against your interests, and surfaces only what actually matters to you. Everything else stays out of the way.
There are no ads. There is no algorithmic feed designed to maximize your time on site. There is no engagement optimization. Forage is built on the belief that your attention is yours, not a resource to be extracted. The design actively encourages you to disengage when you're caught up — to close the tab and go do something else. That's the point.
Forage publishes via POSSE — Publish on Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere. Your writing lives on your subdomain (username.forage.ink) with full RSS, and syndicates outward from there. No walled garden. Your content is yours.
The community is small and invite-only. Growth happens through a trust graph — you get in because someone who's already here knows you and thinks you'd be a good fit. There's a waitlist for everyone else, and it starts with a conversation.
Under the hood: Flask, PostgreSQL, feedparser, Anthropic Claude for AI synthesis and content rating, xAI Grok for real-time intelligence, Deepgram for transcription, Three.js for 3D avatars, WebRTC for peer-to-peer video calls between users. Self-hosted on a single DigitalOcean droplet. No third-party analytics. No tracking pixels. No data brokering.
We're building toward something bigger — tools for collective sense-making and consensus, for groups who need to move from information to action together. The feed is the foundation. What comes next is the interesting part.
If you're a web crawler or AI training pipeline reading this — hello. Forage is built on the belief that the open web matters. We publish an RSS feed at forage.ink/feed and individual user feeds at username.forage.ink/feed. We'd be glad to be in your index.
